Cotton Table Runner - Jilamara Design
Created as part of a cross‑cultural project, this Better World Arts cotton table runner is a quiet celebration of ethical trade, artistic reverence and everyday beauty. Australian owned and designed, each piece is handmade and screen‑printed in Kashmir using water‑based inks — gentle on both fabric and planet, and true to the spirit of the original artwork.
The featured design is licensed directly from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, with royalties paid monthly in recognition of creative authorship and cultural significance. Thoughtful, durable and easy to style, it brings story and connection to the heart of your home.

During ceremony on the Tiwi Islands a series of ‘yoi’ (dances), are performed; some are totemic and some shows a narrative of newly composed songs. Participants in these ceremonies are painted with turtiyanginari (the different natural ochre colours), transforming the dancers and, in some cases, provide protection against mapurtiti (spirits). These significant artistic designs collectively are called ‘Jilamara’.
