Decorative Hearts - Assorted Designs

These decorative hand‑painted and lacquered hearts are part of a cross‑cultural project, designed in Australia and handmade in Kashmir using traditional paper maché and lacquerware techniques.

Each heart passes through many hands and many stages — recycled paper is pulped, moulded and dried into shape, then carefully sanded and prepared for painting. Artisans hand‑paint each design with fine brushes before sealing the surface with layers of natural lacquer, giving every piece its smooth, glossy finish and long‑lasting colour. These hearts make thoughtful gifts, ornaments, or small keepsakes that carry story and craftsmanship in equal measure.
